2nd Update: Our friend in Ft. Lauderdale is having some troubles this morning, Fri, 02/28 and Marcus is able to help get it sorted out, so we’ll be staying another day and now leaving on Saturday. 😀
We got to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, 02/22/25 and have been visiting a friend here. We have been watching the weather closely, and there hasn’t been a great window for sailing to the Bahamas, but Marcus is also working full-time and so we watch his work schedule compared with the weather windows. I have been motion sick for several days after our Saturday trip, which was a surprise to me, as I haven’t been motion sick in years and years. I worked all last year while sailing and worked in the cabin looking at the laptop in 4′ seas and was fine, so this year has just hit me harder.
The generator was also not starting on our way down, so we over-nighted some parts to here, and Marcus did get that fixed. We’ve decided to stay along the shore of Florida and head further south, rather than trying to head to the Bahamas for now. Our next stop is Key Biscayne where we will likely stay for a little bit as some friends are coming in to the area the first week of March. There is a lot to see along the coast, including snorkeling and scuba diving, and I’ve heard there is swimming with dolphins as well. So, we’ll see where the wind and waves and take us next. For now the plan is to head out on Friday, 02/28/2025. We’ll update the map as we head out and take lots of pictures. 🙂
See below for highlights from Fort Lauderdale. It’s hard to tell the scale of these boats. The amount of money here is insane!!
